Turkey Breeds we have on our farm

We have Wild Merriam turkeys, Beltsville, and Black Spanish.  All breeds make a great addition to your homestead either for pets or to grow meat for your family. These are all slower-growing turkeys not commercial, so you will need 6-8 months to grow them unless they are more confined instead of having the run of the yard.

Wild Merriam

The Merriam Wild turkeys were introduced to Manitoba in 1958 and to Alberta in 1962.  They are foragers and eat a variety of nuts, fruits, seeds from grasses, insects, snails, frogs, etc. They are very smart, beautiful, and also make a great Thanksgiving dinner! They are faster growers as well.

Black Spanish Turkeys

Black Spanish are one of the heritage breeds of turkeys we have on the farm. They are a faster growing heritage turkey to raise for a farm for good quality meat. They are great at foraging and have beautiful coloring and personalities!

Beltville Turkeys

This breed of turkey grows much faster than your typical heritage breed and have good-quality meat. They are approximately 15 lbs. at around 5-6 months.

Black Spanish Turkeys

Black Spanish are one of the heritage breeds of turkeys we have on the farm. They are a faster growing heritage turkey to raise for a farm for good quality meat. They are great at foraging and have beautiful coloring and personalities!!
